My experience in XREXPO Stuttgart 2024 - Quick Summary for XR Designers

My experience in XREXPO Stuttgart 2024 - Quick Summary for XR Designers

My visit to XREXPO was brought by one of the unexpected things for me , It was because i wrote a paper for ICVARS 2024 . But at the end i ended up presenting it at XREXPO thanks to some connection who does suggestion here and there :)

I'm happy to have the opportunity to share my work on the stage of XR EXPO , Virtual Dimension Center (VDC) on April 3-4th at Stuttgart. My session, "The Impact of Spatial Design for UX Design and XR Application Adoption," focus on the scientific approach for spatial thinking , framework in designing spatial experience followed by case studies of projects that i have worked on using those methodologies.

The room were completely filled with supportive audience from design, entrepreneurs and educators.

Why am i interested in XR EXPO as B2B exhibition ? Standing from XR Designer POV , for me the choice was clear 🤓 It is a good place to connect with peers and tech provider, to find opportunities for collaboration, to showcase my work to targeted audience and to get understanding in market needs that will assist me in position myself updated in the industry. I have to say that a niche conference has a huge benefits of putting together concentrated audiences and exhibitors .

During my round at the playground experience, where I tried  various applications, one of the first things that caught my attention was the high minimum standard of headsets being utilized, including the Quest 3, Vision Pro, and HoloLens. This selection of advanced headsets provides a window into the industries that these experiences are targeting, given the significant quality and performance requirements associated with them. The emphasis on such high-caliber equipment suggests a focus on sectors like healthcare, automotive, digital twin technology, and manufacturing for training and simulations.

Many healthcare application are using Hololens . for gaze experience ? Many people in this conference seems to believe the usage for vision pro will be more in industrial, health and medical 🌻 But to my surprise as well, that also means it comes with standard of UX to each of this applicationn.

Following is my quick wrap up summary for XR Designer based on my observation :

The Rise of No-Code for XR for Quicker Design Iterations

What stands out about this application is it lets user select different level of immersion  from a  1:1 , custom human-sized , or a surface boundary box experience like what vision pro is offering now , all using the same 3D environment.

Then with just a single click, users can transition into a collaborative space, accessible directly through their headsets. The team literally walk me through their entire interface, so grateful !

More Research in Human Computer Interaction for Spatial Experience

From my POV, seems there is a sense of needs in deepening the understanding of how users interact with digital environments, user behavior and interaction patterns , that will benefit not only User Experience and Informed Design Decisions , but the most important thing is user satisfaction and engagament measurement , that will lead to quantifiable result to give people more logic to adopt it.

Tools to assist deployments to clients :

One of most interesting apps for people that deploy xr application to clients , ManageXR.
They also walk me through their dev and designers arketplace  to collab with their partner studios ✨

Overall , i had a really experience at this event, so thankful of team that give me the opportunity to be part of this big puzzle. 🤓
